Phase 1: Create the Inventory and Line Item
Step 1: Create the Ad Unit
In GAM, navigate to Inventory > Ad units and click New ad unit.
Name the ad unit (e.g., Exitbee_OOP_Slot).
Use defaults for Parent ad unit (Top level) and Size mode (Fixed Size )
Under the Sizes section, select Out-of-page.
On Target Window set _blank
Unselect AdSense
Save the Ad Unit.
Step 2: Create the Order and Line Item
Navigate to Delivery > Orders and click New order.
Name your Order and Line Item appropriately.
Select Display as ad type for your Line Item
Select Network as Line Item Type
Under Expected creatives, select Out-of-page.
Set start time immediately, end time unlimited, goal 100% and CPM 0£ (you will be able to view the exact CPM from Exit Bee console).
In the section Adjust Delivery, select the option Only One for the Display Creatives.
In the Targeting section, ensure you target the specific Ad Unit you created in Step 1 (Exitbee_OOP_Slot).
Click Save.
CRITICAL STEP: Look at the top left of the Order screen and click the Approve button. This transitions your Line Item from Draft to Ready (or Needs Creatives). If you skip this, the ad will never run.
Phase 2: Import the Template & Build the Creative
Step 1: Import the Exitbee Creative Template (One-Time Setup)
Navigate to Delivery > Creatives > Creative templates.
Click New creative template.
Click the Import button at the top right of the screen.
Select the provided Exitbee template file from your computer: Exitbee_creative_template
Click Submit on the import modal once the file upload is successful.
CRITICAL STEP: Once the imported template opens, scroll through the settings and double-check that the Out-of-page toggle is turned ON.
CRITICAL STEP: Ensure Serve into a SafeFrame by default is turned OFF.
Click Save to lock the template into your GAM network.
Step 2: Build the Campaign Creative
Navigate to the Creatives tab inside your new Line Item and click Add creative > New creative.
Select custom creative
Search for and select the Exitbee_creative_template you just imported.
Name your creative appropriately for the campaign.
CRITICAL STEP: Look for the siteId variable box and input the specific Site ID provided to you by Exitbee.
Click Save. Because you already approved the Order in Phase 1, attaching this creative will satisfy the final requirement, and the Line Item status will flip to Ready.
Note on Delivery: Once the first actual ad request hits GAM from a live webpage, the status will automatically change from Ready to Delivering (this UI update usually takes 15–30 minutes).
Phase 3: Website Implementation (GPT Tags)
Step 1: Generate the Tags in Ad Manager
In GAM, navigate to Inventory > Ad units and click on your specific Ad Unit (e.g., Exitbee_OOP_Slot).
Click on the Tags tab.
Select Google Publisher Tag (GPT) and click Continue.
CRITICAL STEP: In the Tag Options section, ensure the Out-of-page toggle is turned ON. This guarantees GAM generates the specific defineOutOfPageSlot method instead of a standard banner request.
Click Continue to generate the final code blocks.
